Happy New Year! We decided to take a last minute trip to Santa Cruz and see the beach. We had contemplated going to Tahoe but changed direction at the last minute because of a storm that came in. Jen touched up a few of the photos for me and may post some on her blog soon. Enjoy

I love this picture of Jenny and Ethan - his expression is priceless. He enjoyed the beach a little more than Jaron.
Kylee contemplating life. She loves playing around at the beach. She also liked the waterfront but was so upset that she couldn't go on the roller coaster because she was too short. How do you explain that to a kid where they feel okay with the outcome that won't change unless they grow another foot? Jen and I were both surprised by her reaction - she was crying and I bet the thing she'll remember about the trip was not being able to go on the roller coaster.
While the beach reminds me of home, the redwoods are more Jenny's pace. We went to a nearby redwood forest and did a long hike (0.8 miles). We went at sunset so it got misty towards the end and Kylee got to see a few deer running around. Absolutely priceless.
Here's Jaron - basking in the sun and enjoying life. He's a little ham and enjoys the camera
However, despite the last picture, this is what most of his pictures looked like. He DID NOT like the sand nor being left on the blanket and being restricted to a 3 * 4 area.
Kylee dressed up at the kid's museum in San Jose. She had a blast! A great family trip - not bad for planning 24 hrs in advance!
Aloha,
Kylee, Jaron, Ethan and Parents
